Ahead of our first Off The Record event at The Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh on the 5th October, we spoke to Stuart Stenhouse,  director of Scotland's leading digital distribution company EmuBands, about working in the music industry...

Q: How did you get your start in music?

A: Whilst studying at university I completed a number of work experience placements to gain insight into various different areas of the music industry and to begin building contacts. One of these placements was at EmuBands which then led to my first employment within the industry.

Q: What is best thing about your work?

A: Working at EmuBands I'm fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with hugely talented artists from all over the world. Being able to work with, and help, artists/labels throughout the development of their career is equally as exciting as it is satisfying.

Q: Give us one tip for anyone looking to work in music?

A: Always remember the reason why you originally wanted to work in music and keep it in mind at all times.

Off The Record takes place at the Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh on Saturday 5th October for 14-25 year olds. Tickets are £2, and include free lunch and a release with EmuBands worth £25! Get your tickets here.
